POD Cast

So now I have this big honkin' 16-foot POD sitting on the street in front of my house, filled to the brim with stuff.

Big thanks to Dianne, Stella, Star, Lora, Debbie, JL, Dave, Nick and Noelle for working like the busiest POD Cast on the planet getting my and my mom's junk packed up and out of the way.

There's still tons of stuff left to do, not the least of which is meeting with the realtor this evening to sign contracts and get this puppy on the market finally.

But the busy weekend still held a few reminders of why I want to leave. Less than 72 hours after the POD was delivered, it was vandalized by a gang member(s) with spray paint. So I have some weird gang mark on the side of the POD in black paint. I'm sure the POD people will be thrilled. Thankfully, I got the POD insured.

And in the midst of the moving ambles up a guy from the 'hood, hustling me for money. I've never seen him before but he claims to be the brother of a guy who did possibly the worst job imaginable of putting up a new ceiling in one of my bedrooms a couple of years ago. Scary thing is, this guy knew which of the nine people milling around the house was me, and that I have two dogs. When I wasn't forthcoming with $$ he hauled out some expensive (as in $90 each) leather dog leashes, still wrapped and pricetags intact. I finally gave him $10 to get rid of him and kept the $180 worth of obviously-stolen dog leashes. The "hot merchandise" went into one of the POD boxes.

I will not miss the hustles and the vandals.
